Following the completion of her term of office by our Faculty’s Founding Dean, Prof. Dr. Emine Gümüşsoy, Prof. Dr. Oktay Berber, a faculty member of the Department of History, Division of General Turkish History, who was appointed as Dean by the Council of Higher Education, assumed his duties at the handover ceremony held on Thursday, 11 December 2025. Speaking at the ceremony, Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Gümüşsoy emphasized that throughout their term, she and Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Eylem Dereli and Prof. Dr. Fesun Koşmak worked in unity and solidarity to contribute to the institution, and highlighted that the Faculty’s administrative staff also played a major role in this harmonious process. Dean Prof. Dr. Berber, who took over the position, thanked our founding dean and stated that the new term represents merely a change of guard. He further expressed his confidence that the founding dean and her team would continue to guide the new administration with their knowledge and experience. The ceremony, attended by Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Eylem Dereli and Prof. Dr. Fesun Koşmak, Faculty Secretary Yılmaz Öner, administrative staff, and Deputy Directors of TÖMER, concluded with the presentation of mutual gifts and the taking of a commemorative photograph.
