The third event in the “Faculty Conferences” series organized by our faculty was successfully held. Organized in collaboration with the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, the event titled “From the Language of the Sages” brought together our esteemed professors, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bican Ercilasun and Prof. Dr. Bilge Ercilasun, with our faculty members and students. Held on May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the ESOGÜ F-5 Conference Hall, the conference featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bican Ercilasun on “On the Turkish Language” and Prof. Dr. Bilge Ercilasun on “A Journey Through the World of Fiction.” With a large audience in attendance, our professors shared important insights regarding the Turkish language and the art of the novel. Drawing on his research on the Turkish language and its history, Ercilasun provided the audience with valuable insights, illustrating the structural characteristics unique to the Turkish language through various examples. Prof. Dr. Bilge Ercilasun, in her speech, first discussed the characteristics of the novel—the literary genre with the largest readership—and then focused on novels written about the Atatürk and National Struggle periods, highlighting points in these novels that would capture the audience’s interest. The event concluded after questions from the audience were answered. Our Dean, Prof. Dr. Oktay Berber, expressed his pleasure at hosting Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bican Ercilasun and Prof. Dr. Bilge Ercilasun at our faculty.
